What We Clean and Fix

Artificial turf is low maintenance, not no maintenance. After a few seasons of sun, wind and dogs, most yards need some attention. We handle:

  • Pet odor. Deep rinsing and enzyme deodorizing for dog runs and yards that smell on hot days.
  • Flat, matted fibers. Power brushing to stand the blades back up in walkways and play spots.
  • Low infill. Top-ups where wind, rain and foot traffic have thinned it out.
  • Split or lifting seams. Re-gluing and re-seaming so the joint disappears again.
  • Wrinkles and ripples. Re-stretching and re-securing turf that has shifted.
  • Burns and damage. Cutting out melted spots from grills, fire pits or reflected window glare and patching in matching turf.
  • Drainage problems. Fixing low spots and areas where water pools or the base has washed out.

Our Cleaning and Repair Process

We start by looking at the whole yard, not only the problem spot. A wrinkle is often a base problem. A smell that won't go away often means the drainage underneath is slow.

  1. Inspect. We check seams, edges, infill depth and how water moves through the turf.
  2. Clear. We remove leaves, debris and pet waste and blow out dust.
  3. Clean. We rinse and apply an enzyme deodorizer where pets go.
  4. Repair. We fix seams, re-stretch wrinkles, patch damage or lift turf to rebuild the base where needed.
  5. Top up and brush. We add infill and power brush the fibers upright.

Signs it's time to call: a smell that comes back a day after rinsing, seams you can see from the patio, edges curling up near walls or borders, puddles that sit after a storm, or bare backing showing in high-traffic paths.

Materials We Use

For pet areas we use antimicrobial infill, which holds less odor than plain sand. For hot, sunny yards, cooling infill can bring surface temperature down. Seams get turf seaming tape and outdoor turf adhesive, then nails along the edges. For patches, we match pile height, color and blade direction as closely as we can. On older turf a patch may still look slightly different, and we'll tell you that up front.

If your turf is past saving, full replacement may cost less over time than repeated repairs. Our artificial turf cost guide for Albuquerque explains what a new install runs.

Heat, UV, Wind and Monsoon Drainage in the High Desert

At over 5,000 feet, Albuquerque turf takes strong UV every day. Over time that can fade and stiffen cheaper fibers, and low infill leaves the backing more exposed. Keeping infill at the right depth protects the turf.

Spring wind loads turf with dust and sand. That grit packs into the fibers, slows drainage and traps odor in dog areas. A rinse and power brushing clears it.

Monsoon storms bring heavy rain fast. If the base wasn't compacted well, water can wash it out and leave dips or soft spots. We lift the turf, rebuild and re-compact the base, then lay it back down. Reflected sunlight from some windows can also melt spots in turf, which we can patch.

Dog owners should look at our pet turf and dog run installs page for how permeable backing helps prevent odor problems from the start.

Repairing Turf Someone Else Installed

We work on turf from any installer. Common problems on other installs include a base that was too thin, seams that were only glued, and edges that were never secured. We'll tell you plainly whether a repair will hold or whether the base needs to be redone.

If your turf is still under a manufacturer warranty, check that paperwork before any repair. Our 2-year workmanship guarantee covers the installs we build. For repair work, your written quote explains what we're fixing and what we're not.

FAQ

Turf Cleaning & Repair Questions

How often should artificial turf be cleaned in Albuquerque?

Rinse pet areas often in summer and remove waste daily. Most yards benefit from a deeper cleaning, brushing and infill check once or twice a year, especially after spring wind season.

How do you get rid of dog urine smell in turf?

We rinse the area, apply an enzyme deodorizer and check that water drains through the backing. Switching to antimicrobial infill helps. If the base drains slowly, fixing drainage is often the real fix.

Can you fix a seam that is coming apart?

Usually, yes. We pull back the turf, clean the old adhesive, lay new seaming tape and glue, and secure the edges. If the base under the seam has shifted, we fix that first.

Why does my turf have wrinkles?

Turf can wrinkle when it wasn't stretched enough at install, wasn't secured well, or the base moved. We re-stretch and re-secure it, and rebuild the base if that's the cause.

Can you repair a burn mark?

Yes. We cut out the damaged section and patch in matching turf, then seam and infill it. On older or faded turf the patch may look slightly different at first.

What can I do myself between cleanings?

Pick up pet waste daily, rinse dog areas with a hose on hot days, and use a leaf blower or stiff plastic rake to clear debris and lift flattened spots. Keep grills, fire pits and sharp chair legs off the turf. Call us when seams lift, water pools or odor stays after rinsing.

Do you repair turf installed by another company?

Yes. We'll look at the turf and the base and tell you in a written quote whether a repair will hold or the area needs to be rebuilt.
