Built for Dogs, Built for the Desert

Most turf that smells or floods was installed on the wrong base. Dogs in Albuquerque spend a lot of time in the yard, and summer heat bakes in whatever doesn't drain. A pet install starts underground.

What goes into every pet install

  • Fully permeable backing. Liquid passes through the whole surface, not just through drainage holes every few inches.
  • A base that drains. We dig out the old soil, then lay and compact crushed base so water moves down and away from the turf.
  • Odor-control infill. Antimicrobial infill coats the fibers and keeps bacteria from building up.
  • Short, dense fibers. Easier to clean and stands back up after heavy traffic.
  • Nailed and secured edges so paws and claws can't pull anything up.

Dog runs and side yards

The narrow side yard is often where dogs wear the dirt down to dust or mud. A turf dog run along the fence fixes that and keeps dirt out of the house. We can slope it to drain toward a gravel strip or the street.

Easy to keep clean

Pick up waste, rinse the spot, and hose the whole area down every week or two in summer. Once or twice a year, a deep clean and infill top-up keep it like new. We offer that too.

FAQ

Pet Turf Questions

Will pet turf smell?

Not if it's built right. Smell comes from urine that can't drain or gets trapped in the infill. Our pet installs use fully permeable backing, a compacted base that drains, and antimicrobial infill. A hose-down every week or two in summer keeps it fresh.

Can my dog dig through it?

Diggers usually give up fast because there's nothing loose to dig. We nail the edges and can add a buried border along fence lines where dogs like to dig out.

What about dog poop?

Pick it up the same way you would on grass. Rinse the spot after. Solid waste doesn't stain the turf.

Does it get too hot for paws?

Any surface in full Albuquerque sun gets warm, including concrete and gravel. Lighter, heat-reflective fibers and cooling infill help. Leave a shaded spot and a quick rinse before the dogs go out on the hottest afternoons.

How much does pet turf cost?

Pet turf is priced like our lawn installs, usually between $10 and $16 per square foot all-in. The exact price depends on the size, access and how much old material needs to come out. The on-site quote is free.
