Practice Every Day Without Driving to the Course

A backyard green is the easiest way to practice short putts, lag putts and chips, any day of the year. Albuquerque's dry weather means you can be out on it almost every day.

How we build a green

  • Design. We measure your yard and plan the shape, cup locations and breaks with you.
  • Base shaping. Crushed base is compacted in layers and shaped by hand for the slopes and breaks you want.
  • Putting turf. Short, dense putting-surface turf that rolls true and holds a line.
  • Cups and flags. Regulation cups set flush, with flags.
  • Fringe and surrounds. A longer fringe or chipping area and a clean edge where the green meets the rest of the yard.

Add-ons

Chipping areas, sand-colored borders, lighting for evening practice, and lawn turf around the green so the whole yard matches.

Low upkeep

Blow off leaves and debris, brush it now and then to keep the roll even, and top up the infill if it starts to slow. No mowing, no watering, no aeration.

FAQ

Putting Greens Questions

How big does a putting green need to be?

A single-cup green can fit in about 150 square feet. Most backyard greens are 300 to 800 square feet with two to four cups. We'll design it around your yard on the free measure.

Will it roll like a real green?

Yes. Putting turf is short and dense, and the speed depends on the base and the infill. We shape the base for the breaks you want and dial in the roll before we leave.

Can I chip onto it?

Yes. We can add a fringe or rough border to chip from and a firmer surface that holds a chip shot.

How much does a putting green cost?

Putting greens cost more per square foot than a lawn because of the specialty turf, cups and extra base shaping. We'll give you a firm written price after the free measure.

How long does it take?

Most backyard greens are done in two to four days, depending on size, contours and access.
